Dr. Eileen Byrne
Dr. Eileen Rebecca Byrne is a fellowship-trained urologist specializing in Men’s Sexual Health and Infertility. Her focus is to help restore sexual function, urinary function, and fertility for men. Sexual dysfunction and urinary issues are common and may develop as a result of cancer treatments, aging, or other health conditions, and Dr. Byrne is passionate about developing a partnership with her patients to help improve their quality of life.
Dr. Byrne completed her Doctor of Medicine at the University of Central Florida College of Medicine and went on to pursue a residency in Urology at the University of California San Diego (UCSD). She completed her Men's Sexual Health Fellowship at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota. Dr. Byrne holds membership in the American Urologic Association (AUA), the Sexual Medicine Society of North America (SMSNA), and the International Society for the Study of Women’s Sexual Health (ISSWSH).
Dr. Byrne has conducted research on a variety of topics but more recently has focused her research on urologic reconstruction and sexual health. She is a co-author of the 13th edition of Campbell’s Urology Chapter 67 on The Surgical Management of Male Infertility. She has also contributed to multiple videos for developing new surgical techniques for urethral reconstruction and fertility. Previously she contributed to research in the areas of recurrent urinary tract infections, multiple myeloma, and cardiac development.
Although she grew up in Florida, she became part of the San Diego community while completing her residency training. When she is not working, Dr. Byrne enjoys spending time with her husband and her dog.
